WINTER LEAGUE
Thanks to those BVA members who took the time to complete our on-line survey on the Winter Indoor League. Here is what you had to say:
1. 91% of people think we should move to competitive / recreational structure, the same as outdoor leagues.
2. The following are the % of people interested in each proposed league (Note you could vote for more than 1 league):
- 42% Co-ed competitive
- 41% Co-ed recreational
- 26% Women’s competitive
- 20% Men’s competitive
- 14% Women’s recreational
- 5% Men’s recreational
3. 65% think we should limit each league to 8 teams.
4. We also received several suggestions for improvement and are looking to implement as many as we can.
Based on this feedback, the BVA will be offering the following leagues, from 7-9 pm beginning the week of Monday, October 22, 2012. All leagues will take place at Warwick Academy with the exception of Women’s Recreational, which will be held at MSA.
Monday’s = Co-ed Competitive
Tuesday’s = Co-ed Recreational
Wednesday’s = Women’s Competitive
Thursday’s = Men’s Competitive & Women’s Recreational (separate gyms)
Registration will take place on-line from October 1-8, 2012. Space will be limited, so ensure you register early. The team fee will be $900. We understand this is a high fee, but is necessary in order to cover the costs of the gym rental and referees, league prizes, an end of season party and lots of playing time! You will be emailed an invoice upon completion on your team registration, please wire transfer your fees by Oct 10th.
October 1 is a new membership year for the BVA, so all participants must go on-line, individually, and complete the membership application as well as to pay their membership fees. One year membership fees are $30 and a 3 year membership is $50.
As a sport’s governing body in Bermuda, all BVA members are subject to random drug testing each year. The Bermuda Sport Anti-Doping Authority has set-up an educational session on Monday, October 15th, 2012. At least 1 member of each winter league team must attend in order to be able to participate in winter league. If you do not attend, your team will lose their spot in the league.
For all Recreational Teams, uniforms with numbers will not be required; however we do recommend you have some matching t-shirts you can use. All competitive teams must have matching uniforms with numbers. Please get organized now. Also note, that as per BVA policy all teams consisting only of players 18 and under are eligible for the 50% BVA youth discount. Also all youth membership is free of charge.
