Elisabeth Rae, Co-President BVA, Michelle Cordoso, Girls Player of the Year, Ian Bucci, Boys Player of the Year & Bill Bucci High School Player of the Year Award Coordinator.

The Bermuda Volleyball Association in their drive to get Bermuda’s youth more involved in volleyball are sponsoring an annual Boys & Girls High School Player of the Year Award.

The award was decided by the coach of the high school teams and was presented to the High School Players of the Year: Ian Bucci & Michelle Cardoso.

After each match each coach votes for the best player on the opposing team. The votes are tallied and at the end of the high school season the player with the most votes wins.

The award consists of a trophy and a $1,000 bursary to attend an overseas volleyball camp to each of the top male high school players of the season.

The Girls vote was very close as there was a 6 way tie between, Michelle Peichoto MSA, Cardoso MSA, Alyson Grenfeld BHS, Alijah Ahad BHS,Jasmine Patterson Saltus and Amy Fox Saltus.

Bucci won the Boys first BVA HSPY by a landslide as he earned every vote for each of the Warwick Academy Varsity matches, giving him the title of the best high school boy player by Bermuda’s High School Coach’s. 4 players tied for second, Matthew Sinclair MSA, Eric Cabral MSA, Ben Shira Saltus andJonathan Lowe CBA.
